Amy Claridge

Amy has a compelling story and through our work with Hyundai, we have agreed that making a donation towards her and her family is such a worthwhile cause, we are sure you will agree with us. Amy’s family will be receiving 20% of the total sponsorship raised in order to finance a once in a lifetime family vacation.

Amy is now 14, but her story starts several years ago now, when in 2006 she was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumour. For anyone this is a horrible thing to find out, but for an 11 year old child this can be deeply upsetting. Doctors were lucky enough to remove the tumour, and during courses of Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy she started to show signs of real improvement.

Sadly this improvement was short lived when in 2007 she suffered a massive stroke, which has left Amy with partial paralysis in the left hand side of her body. As it stands now in 2009, she can walk, though not far, and in line with this she is undergoing regular physiotherapy sessions. There is a chance that through this physiotherapy proper use of her left side of the body may be restored. This is clearly a difficult task, and we want to help provide some motivation.

Amy and her family came to light as a part of Hyundai Milton Keynes commitment to them. As such they became a supported cause as a part of the Hyundai Milton Keynes Fun Run 09.
